Pixelnaut Utilities in STARL Metaverse
In recent articles, we have focused on Living Modules in the STARL Metaverse, the virtual real estate side, and STARL Pass points. In those, Pixelnauts have been mentioned as having utility with both and other areas. We want to take this moment to go over Pixelnauts, what they are, how they can be used, and plans for them going forward. We’d also like to preface this article with the notion that all NFTs released by STARL have plans to be used within the Metaverse. They will all have utility and a special place in the STARL Metaverse. Each is unique, but all work together to create an ecosystem.
Pixelnauts are 10k randomly generated PFP (Profile Picture) NFTs. They will be primarily used to “boost” your rewards in various ways and will allow customizable options in all areas of the Metaverse.
Whereas other NFT sets have dedicated portals and sectors, the mission of Pixelnauts is that they will bring value to various sectors of the STARL Metaverse in terms of cosmetics, access points, and earning increases. As a result, they will be utilized in many ways.
Current Usage of Pixelnauts:
Pixelnauts are used in the STARL Marketplace as a user’s profile picture. If a user has purchased a Pixelnaut, an option to modify their default profile picture to one of the Pixelnauts will be presented. This will show in the marketplace where users interact, such as bidding, owning, and other activities. As well as with upcoming Secondary Marketplace functionality, the visible profile pic will be seen in many different locations.
We will continue to build out more functionality of Pixelnauts in the STARL Marketplace as it progresses in development. On the Metaverse side, there are many plans for Pixelnauts. These will all start coming into place once wallet connect and authorization are implemented, which is also currently being developed and tested. So let’s dive into that now.
Cosmetic and Functional Utilities of Pixelnauts coming to the Metaverse:
As stated previously, Pixelnaut utility will exist in various areas of the STARL Metaverse and games. Such focus areas are character customizations, access points in the metaverse, unique Pixelnaut VIP rooms and lounges, and reward boosts. We’ll go through these utilities below, focussing on each Portal developed for the STARL Metaverse.
STARL Metaverse (general environment):
In the STARL Metaverse, Pixelnauts have many cosmetic and functional utilities. If you have logged into the STARL Metaverse client, you have most likely been prompted to customize your character. There are various options available now as a sample to display the myriad of options and possibilities coming to users and players. In these options, there will be customizations only available to Pixelnaut holders. One option is to be able to display your Pixelnaut on your visor. This will allow users to link their Profile Picture across the marketplace and Metaverse and create their identity. Other considerations are Pixelnaut-specific character skins and outfits. Pixelnaut arms, legs, and different customized ways to look like the NFT you hold are planned.
In many ways, Pixelnauts will be your unique identifier in the metaverse. Usernames and default customizations can be claimed by anyone logging in to the metaverse. But a Pixelnaut can only be used by the one who owns it. For instance, no one else can have your specific Pixelnaut on a visor but you.
Certain specific rarities of Pixelnauts are also being planned as customizations. For example, some rare Pixelnauts have Aliens on the character’s shoulders. Imagine having that Alien on your shoulder as you explore the Metaverse and have it only be available if you own that rare NFT?
Outside of character customization in the general STARL Metaverse, there will be areas that only Pixelnaut owners can access. For example, imagine having a Pixelnaut lounge or bar in the STARL Hub that is only available to Pixelnaut holders, all decorated and designed in the theme of Pixelnauts. Blocky furniture and decor? Sure. 8-bit music on the pixelated jukebox? Excellent. There’s no shortage of fun for Pixelnaut holders in the Metaverse.
The above are just some examples as we expand Pixelnauts into the Metaverse. Many more examples will come forward when the time is right to share. As for the STARL Metaverse Portals, let’s look at what will come for Pixelnauts.
Warp Nexus -
In Warp Nexus ships will include limited edition customization with skins, ship trails, and fireworks. These are various ways to make a ship, like a character, have a custom identity, and let users express themselves more. For Pixelnaut holders, an option to customize their ship to reflect the Pixelated aesthetic will be offered. This includes Pixelnaut-styled skins for ships, a pixelated and blocky ship trail, and a Pixelnaut-styled firework display fired from the ships.
Living Modules -
With Living Modules, Pixelnauts play both a cosmetic and functional utility. On the decorative side, users can display them in various NFT locations in their modules. Display units for the NFT will be standard for Living Modules, but there are plans to include a hologram and 3d displays for STARL-released NFTs. Additionally, Pixelnauts will have various ways to be displayed and customize within Living Modules.
Pixelnauts will participate in the Living Module earning mechanism of Pass Points for the functional utility. To learn more about Pass Points, please see this article. Pixelnauts will act as boosters for Living Modules earning. Rarity will play a role to an extent. Pixelnauts will be placed in tiers of rarity. For instance, multiple tiers will be used, and a percentage of top rarity will be placed in one tier, medium rarity in another, and lower rarity in another. Each tier will boost the daily LM rewards by a certain percentage (to be disclosed and adjusted as volume is monitored).
Arena -
If you have been to one of the exciting and vibrant shows in the STARL Arena, you’ve likely visited one of the many unique and fun lounges surrounding the Arena. Each of these lounges has a different theme and decor, and all have exciting views of the parties below. Pixelnaut holders will have their lounge themed in the retro and pixelated aesthetic of the NFT they hold. Only Pixelnaut users will be allowed to access this area.
Starcade -
In the Starcade, the arcade and minigame portal of the Metaverse, Pixelnauts owners will have their Pixelnauts displayed next to their leaderboard listings. Top players will have their Pixelnauts shown to all, making those particular Pixelnauts recognized by anyone visiting the Metaverse or the Starcade section of the STARL Marketplace. In the future, top score Pixelnaut holders may display their Pixelnauts in various areas of the Metaverse. Pixelnauts will also be displayed as Avatars in minigames.
As described above, there are many locations and ways that Pixelnauts make a user’s experience unique and vibrant. There will be a plethora of visual enhancements for Pixelnaut holders throughout the STARL Metaverse while also having unique and fun locations to access only to those holding and ways to earn more in the economic mechanisms of STARL. In summary, Pixelnauts will boost cosmetics, access points, and earnings and help provide a cohesive experience and aesthetic across STARL’s portals.
